In this category, you will only find crossbow pistols, also called crossbows because they shoot much smaller bolts than classic crossbows.

Their power ranges from 50 pounds to 120 pounds. Some models can be held with one hand, while others can be held with two hands and even have a stock that rests against the shoulder.

What brands of mini-crossbows?

The Mankung brand is one of the oldest to offer mini crossbows. The golden model has been distributed in several hundred thousand copies worldwide. Today, the Alligator model is the most widespread in the brand, as it is much more modern with its 21 mm Picatinny rails allowing to install Red Dots or accessories such as handles. It is also very affordable in terms of price.

EK Archery, on the other hand, will offer a wider variety of models, with one-handed crossbow pistols comparable to those of Mankung, but also new models that shoot 7.5-inch or 15-inch bolts and are larger than classic crossbows.

The Horizon brand offers the famous Red Back models, renowned for their look.

Steambow, already known for its ASSR-6 model, which was truly the first magazine-fed crossbow marketed to the general public just before the EK Archery Adder, strikes hard with the new M10 model, which can hold up to 10 bolts in a removable magazine.

And finally, we have the models from the FMA brand with the Supersonic, available in standard versions, reverse limbs, and Tactical with magazine.

Choosing your mini-crossbow based on power:

Apart from the choice of design, it will be on the power that you can base your selection. A 50 or 80 pound crossbow will shoot at about 10 to 20 meters maximum, which is ideal for recreational target shooting.

The more powerful models, between 100 and 150 pounds, will also be very suitable for target shooting, but up to a distance of 40 to 50 m for the most powerful models. We recommend purchasing a foam target 7 to 10 cm thick depending on the power of the crossbow. You can then install targets on it and have fun counting points.

The higher the bolt speed, the more accurate and far-reaching your shot will be. Don't hesitate to ask us for advice.

What accessories to install on a mini-crossbow?

A stringer: Hattila strongly recommends investing in a stringer for crossbow pistols. This will greatly facilitate assembly and disassembly.

A case: Very practical for storing or transporting your mini-crossbow.

A Red Dot sight: Ideal for crossbow pistols between 50 and 90 pounds.

A scope: More suitable for crossbows from 100 pounds, as we're looking for greater accuracy over longer distances.

Sets of bolts for small crossbows: Be careful to choose the same bolts as those originally on your crossbow, this will ensure identical performance. You can use heavier bolts if your crossbow model allows it. This will offer a more stable flight, but with a shorter range.

Hunting arrows: Some crossbow models can accept hunting arrows. If this is allowed in your country, you can hunt small game with your mini-crossbow.

A crossbow target: this will preserve your bolts from too deep penetration, which will gently stop the bolts.

What is the legislation on mini-crossbows?

Mini-crossbows and crossbow pistols are not considered weapons, just like classic crossbows and compound crossbows. They are not classified in the internal security code and are therefore free to purchase.

However, Hattila reserves the right to ask for identification to verify that you are of legal age in order to buy a mini-crossbow. It must be transported disassembled to prevent it from being immediately usable. We also recommend disassembling it for storage to prevent any domestic accidents.
