Basic equipment for all archers

Obviously, to shoot with a bow, you need a bow and arrows, but that's not all!

Here's a non-exhaustive list of essential items for any beginner or more experienced archer, which you can easily find in your favorite online archery store!

The tab for finger protection

For recurve bows, archers use a leather tab to protect their fingers from the bowstring when shooting. This way, the archer doesn't place their fingers directly on the string, and the tab protects against repeated string friction or simply the pressure exerted on it.
Various options available include different finishes that will impact the price of your tab: spacer, separator, adjustable wrist strap, simple leather or cordovan, aluminum frame, plastic or brass...
Tabs are also most often lateralized, so don't make a mistake between "right-handed" or "left-handed" in your order!

The release aid

The release aid is the equivalent of the tab for compound bows. Attached to the hand or wrist, it connects to the string via a D-loop and allows for precise release thanks to a mechanism triggered by pressure or rotation.

The quiver

An essential accessory for archers, the quiver allows for easy arrow transport. Worn on the belt, back, or attached to the bow, it's both practical and aesthetic with a wide variety of models and finishes.
Once again, make the right choice between left-handed and right-handed!

The arm guard

The arm guard is an accessory widely used by archers of all levels. It protects the arm or clothing from string friction when an arrow is shot.
Made of plastic, leather, or fabric, with different shapes and lengths, the arm guard is worn on the inside of the forearm that holds the bow.
There's no room for error, as arm guards are ambidextrous.

The chest guard

The chest guard covers the side of the archer's chest closest to the bow, protecting the chest, but most importantly, preventing clothing from coming into contact with the bowstring.
Worn by both men and women, be sure to choose the right size and laterality for this accessory to fit you perfectly!

The finger sling

The finger sling is a small accessory, often in the form of a cord, used with all types of bows.
It helps keep the bow in hand and prevents it from falling once the arrow is shot. It's therefore an additional safety measure for the archer.
