WATER KITS
Water is essential for survival. After 48 hours without water, the body becomes dehydrated and death follows. In a survival situation, it is therefore essential to know how to get enough water. It is not only necessary to stay alive, but also for hygiene and nutrition. Every survivalist must have water kits in his or her pack. We offer a wide range of materials and equipment that are essential for storing and purifying water in the wilderness.
Survivalism and the importance of carrying water kits
A person cannot survive without drinking water for more than three days. As a survivalist, you will need to drink drinking water and wash regularly. When you are in the wilderness, the hardest thing is not to find a water source, but rather to collect drinking water and use it in peace. Having a water kit is therefore essential for any survivalist.
Innovative, safer and more practical equipment has been created to meet the need for drinking water in the wild. Today, you can choose from hundreds of products and items to collect, filter, purify, store and even transport water. Indeed, in order to be able to consume water, you will need to be sure that it is drinkable. Water purification tablets are essential in this case. Water sources found in nature are not safe from litter and can therefore contain micro-organisms that are dangerous to health. To avoid getting sick, filtering and purifying water is essential.
Water can also be contaminated as a result of natural disasters. Again, it is important to have water kits for water treatment and purification. This way, as a good survivalist, you will have the opportunity to make it drinkable and healthier for consumption, but also for your personal hygiene.
The different types of water kits for a survivalist
Drinking water cannot be so easy to get when you are in a survival situation. It is an element that we can only do without for a couple of days. In order to have a supply of drinking water in a survival situation, find out about the different types of water kits you will need.
Foldable can and bucket for collecting and transporting water
Before you can dispose of the water, you will need to collect it. With a collapsible water canister, you could collect water from streams or ponds with greater ease. This product is usually made of a material that is resistant to shocks and cuts. In addition, it has a tap and a cap for easy handling. It can also be folded to save space when you are on the move. A collapsible bucket is also an excellent alternative for collecting and carrying water to your camp.
Cups for drinking water
You can use various water treatment and purification products to make your water safe to drink. Whether for washing or drinking, water does need to be purified. The safest way to do this is to boil it. You can then complete your water kit with a stainless steel bowl for boiling water. However, you can also use the water purification chemicals available on the bushcraft and survivalist market. With the usual water purification products, you will have to wait a little while for them to work and make the water healthier before you can use or drink it. Now, for you to be able to drink easily, you will certainly need a cup that is suitable for the survival situation. Stainless steel cups are preferable so that you can have a solid and resistant equipment that allows you to drink hot water at the same time. You can choose between different types of cups. Some will have a wire for easy handling, while others will be foldable. An isothermal mug is also a choice not to be missed.
The solar shower for good hygiene
Even in a survival situation, regular washing is important for your well-being and health. If at home you have been using the water heater for a hot shower, in survivalist or bushcraft situations you can opt for a solar shower. This is a device that heats water with the sun's rays in just a few hours. This means that you can take a relaxing hot shower even in the middle of nature. A complete piece of equipment, it usually also includes a watering tap and a flexible hose, as well as a few metres of suspension rope. All you have to do is find a suitable spot to take your hot shower!
Some tips to help you find water in the wild
In the mountains, in the forest or in the desert, water is always present. You just have to know where to look for it and how to get the right water. If you are in the forest or savannah, the areas with the most vegetation are best for finding a water source. Also try to follow animal footprints, as they also need to hydrate, so they usually lead to a water source.
Rocky or stony areas also usually have larger water fountains. Between the cracked rocks, there may also be seepage water. However, if you find yourself in a desert area, the best way to find a water source is to look for a dune. Indeed, water sources are hidden in the desert. To access them, you will have to dig a hole. Water sources are usually found under depressions in the ground along sandy beaches or under dry rivers. With your water kits, you can more easily get water wherever you are in the wilderness.
