What materials are used in arrow assembly?

Do you want your fletches to last over time, to stay on your arrows regardless of conditions? Don't want to lose your points in the targets? Then there's only one thing to do: use the right products, the ones designed for archery that Hattila offers you!

The glue

Not superglue bought from stores, but a flexible glue! Indeed: a brittle glue might not hold your fletches with the vibrations running along the arrow. Glues from brands like Bohning, AAE, Easton are the most commonly used.

The resin

This is hot glue, mainly used for gluing points, but also pins. There are different types for different arrow materials:

- Bohning Ferr L Tite or Easton (honey color) take longer to heat, cool more slowly, and are therefore more suitable for aluminum shafts and arrows.

- Bohning Cool flex (blue) heats and hardens very quickly and is perfectly suited for carbon.

Double-sided tape and serving

They are used to attach "curve" fletches, these very thin, curved plastic fletches, mainly used by Olympic recurve archers.

Double-sided tape will help hold the fletch on the shaft and the serving will keep it pressed down at each of its ends.

Double-sided tape is also widely used in mounting natural feathers, and a dab of glue at the top and bottom of the feather then serves as serving.
