Bow sight

The sight is an accessory composed of several parts:

- the sight body that will be screwed onto the bow with the mounting plate - it can be adjustable in depth, which is what we call the extension.

- an adjustable part that will come at the end of the extension and will allow fixing the sight head.

- the sight head where the aperture (for a recurve bow) or the scope (for a compound bow) will be installed. This sight head allows adjusting the shot both in height and laterally.

How to choose the appropriate sight for my bow?

Several elements to consider carefully when choosing your sight.

Your bow type

Recurve bow, compound bow or hunting compound bow, the sight to use won't be the same! You need to know your type of bow and practice beforehand.

The precision of possible adjustments, the quality of materials used

You'll find sights at all prices and what makes the difference, as always in mechanical sports, is the special attention paid to adjustment possibilities (micrometric, rack and pinion, simple sliding), but also the materials used (aluminum, carbon).

Thus, beginners will opt for fairly economical sights, easy to adjust, mostly made of aluminum, while experienced competitors will prefer micrometric sights with numerous adjustment capabilities.

Sturdiness and lightness

How can we not talk about it, especially if you practice bowhunting with a compound bow. A lightweight and sturdy sight, in this specific case, ensures a trouble-free outing!

A coherent set-up

Finally, it's an important element. You'll find everything at all price points. You'll need to find the best compromise between price, intended use (leisure, competition, hunting) and of course, your level in archery practice and consistency with the rest of your equipment.

What sighting accessories do you need?

Recurve bow sights are generally complete and ready to use.

The aperture (part where the sight pin is located) can however be changed: larger or smaller, more or less bright, with or without fiber optic... Then make your choice of recurve bow apertures from our selection.

Compound bow sights are generally incomplete: you'll need to add the scope.

This is an XXL-sized aperture in which a magnifying lens will be installed.(X2, X4, X6 and X8)

Coupled with a peep sight (which can also have a corrective lens inside), the archer's goal will then be to align everything together: their eye in the peep sight, the scope and the target!

The diameters of scopes differ depending on the discipline practiced (larger in field archery to let in maximum light than for target archery for example)

Scopes, peep sight and possibly, peep sight corrective lens are therefore the essential accessories for your compound bow sight.

For bowhunting enthusiasts, no scope needed: there are sights specially adapted for bowhunting. However, the peep sight will be mandatory.

Is it easy to mount and adjust a sight on a bow?

Yes, it's very simple: all bow and sight manufacturers have standardized their dimensions. All sights can therefore be mounted on all bows that can be equipped with them. Just tighten two screws and it's done!
