Soaps and shower gels

When trekking, light hiking, bivouacking or survivalism, you will be exposed to discomfort due to bad weather (rain, wind, snow, etc.), bad odors and other inconveniences related to perspiration and the surrounding terrain. Not to mention the risk of infection and disease such as eczema or developing fungus and mycosis on the feet, back, etc. hygiene is then paramount, so soaps and shower gels are a must.

It should be noted that both products wash very well and allow you to eliminate all the germs and bacteria that cover your body. However, they both have their advantages and disadvantages.

During a light hike in bivouac, for example, the most convenient would be to have soap. It takes up less space, is easy to store in a soap box, and can be used in a variety of body wash applications: hair care, shaving foam, laundry, dishwashing, antiseptic for minor wounds, etc. As for the shower gel, it will be more difficult to store, especially if your toiletry kit is small.

Tip: using Marseille soap would be best. This type of soap does not contain any non-biodegradable and/or toxic synthetic substances. Otherwise, you can also choose organic shower gel to better protect your health and the environment.
