Primary Rule: NEVER DRY FIRE!

In your package, you will find (depending on the references):

  • The crossbow body
  • The bow
  • A metal plate, two rubber plates, and a metal screw

You will need to assemble them in this order:

Place the plastic tips (provided with the string) on each side of the bow, your crossbow string will attach to them.

The bow is protected by the two rubber plates, the screw presses on the metal plate which will hold the bow and its rubbers, these absorb a good part of the shock wave, they are important.

To install your crossbow string:

You can use a bow stringer or mount "by hand", we will talk about the second method here.

Get help from a friend. The stronger of the two people will grip each end of the bow and pull them back (like when the bow is drawn to shoot). If your crossbow is equipped with one, then place your foot in the stirrup to hold it to the ground, don't hesitate to pull hard.

While you pull on the bows, the second person will put the string in place (don't forget to place the tips first), watch your fingers...

The provided string is not too short, if you can't do it, it's because you're not pulling hard enough on the bows.

We have a crossbow model that is very easy to assemble/disassemble since the string is installed on the bow at the factory and to disassemble the bow you don't need to remove the string. You will find it in wood and camo colors.

To properly use your crossbow:

  • Regularly lubricate the string (we sell crossbow string wax here)
  • Never shoot without an arrow, always put an arrow
  • The arrow comes to rest against the string, there is no space between the two, (the string could jump and go over the arrow)
  • There are crossbow models that have a string catch that may seem backwards (especially the 175 lb XB21 crossbow), you need to pull hard on the string to cock it, go all the way to the bottom and keep the string pressed against the rail (it's a knack to get, nothing extraordinary).

Safety reminder (read this, it takes 10 seconds):

  • Never aim at a person or an animal (crossbow hunting is prohibited in France),
  • The purchase and possession of a crossbow (regardless of its power) is reserved for adults who can prove their age,
  • During recreational shooting try to use an obstacle (wall, earth mound...) behind your target to avoid lost arrows and therefore accidents,
  • If you shoot at home, keep children and animals away. Keep your crossbow pointed toward the ground and safety engaged until you are ready to aim and shoot.
